Forestry Department records, 1931-1985, (bulk 1960-1970).

This series contains the records produced by the Department of Forestry of Clemson University. The series contains correspondence (both general and subject), memoranda, contracts, photographs, maps, and publications. The files are arranged alphabetically by topic. The bulk of files represents the correspondence of the department heads Koloman Lehotsky, 1956-1969, Davis McGregor, 1960-1970, and Michael Taras, 1982-1991. The subjects concern general issues in land management, acquisition of forestlands, forest and wildlife conservation, and agriculture in South Carolina. Documented specifically and projects in Aiken, Anderson, and Pickens counties, the Santee Cooper basin study, pulpwood and timber sales, and the relationship of Clemson University with the Belle W. Baruch Foundation which resulted in the creation of the Belle W. Baruch Forest Science Institute in 1972. Some files relate to administrative matters such as the recruitment of students and faculty and job opportunities in the field. The seris contains publications that consist of brochures, conference proceedings, newsletters, reports, and research monographs.
